In existence since 1916, the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) is the preeminent organization of and national voice for middle level and high school principals, assistant principals, and aspiring school leaders from across the United States and more than 45 countries around the world. Annual NASSP Convention: SAVE THE DATE FOR SAN DIEGO

Make plans now to attend our next Convention! Join us for the 2009 Annual NASSP Convention in San Diego, CA, February 27–March 1, 2009.

The following are important changes that have been made to the Convention’s schedule:
- School Showcase on Thursday. NASSP will bring teams from high-achieving schools, including Breakthrough Schools, to discuss what they’ve done, and ways to address the leading issues in our schools.

- A Festive Opening Reception in the Exhibit Hall on Thursday, 5:00–7:00 p.m. This NEW reception will welcome Convention attendees and officially launch the 2009 NASSP Exposition.

- The NASSP Exposition will be—Friday and Saturday only. The non-compete times will be expanded to 9:30–11:30 a.m. and 1:00–2:30 p.m. each day.

- NEW! Luncheon Format for the Closing General Session on Sunday, 12:00–2:00 p.m. The Closing General Session Luncheon will be included in the individual Convention registration fee (a reservation will be requested). The keynote speaker will be Dewitt Jones, a photojournalist for National Geographic; author; lecturer; and motion picture director.

NASSP Grassroots Network NEW!
The NASSP Federal Grassroots Network is a new Web-based program that gets you involved with your government representatives. As a participant, you are encouraged to cultivate relationships with your members of Congress and share your experiences with fellow grassroots network participants. When you build relationships with your representatives, you are taking an active role in influencing legislation that supports our schools and administrators. Participants are encouraged to:

- Meet with their members of Congress at least once a year
- Participate in quarterly Web conferences or conference calls with other Grassroots Network members.

NASSP will provide Network members with:
- Regular updates on federal policy
- Strategies and talking points for meeting with your elected official
- Access to the Network to share ideas and strategies.
